Video Testimonials

Fundamentals of Self Defense is the best self defense video I have seen and I have trained all over the country and have a library on this topic. Personally I found the section on verbal self defense the most beneficial. I will recommend this to all my students.

"DiAnn Lanke Stasik has created a program for women that is workable and "doable". Her frank discussion of what can and does happen to women is important to acknowledge. Then she gives us the methods and mindset to protect ourselves. Check it out!"

Mary Anne Mills, MA – Social Work

CONFIDENCE! SECURITY! PEACE OF MIND!
After taking DiAnn’s Self Defense Course I am now more confident in my ability to successfully survive an attack! I learned which parts of my attacker’s body are pressure points that would allow me to apply pressure to break his hold on me! I learned that even without physical weapons at my disposal I have many of my own body parts that make excellent weapons with which I can protect myself! I learned to feel more secure by being aware of my surroundings so I can more likely prevent an attack from happening in the first place! I learned how best to wear a scarf so that it does not become a handy weapon of strangulation for my attacker! I learned not to be afraid to scream for help! Self defense training was a fun, participatory, and educational class that has given me peace of mind to know that I do not have to become a victim if I use the techniques DiAnn taught me!

As a self defense instructor myself, I have seen many methods of self defense. DiAnn’s video incorporates information every self defense student should know including the psychology of an attacker and easy step by step techniques designed to help a victim escape and stay safe. Her unique Safe - Chi Kata progresses in difficulty and the workout offers a fun way for students to learn techniques designed to keep an attacker at bay. I highly recommend it to any woman who wants to learn to use her strengths to keep her safe.

As an agent in charge of training in the field of corrections, allow me to provide the following comments regarding W.O.W.’s Self Defense Training Video:

  • I was glad that I was left with the knowledge and feeling that women can defend themselves even in situations which did not seem possible.
  • I especially liked the emphasis on the strengths of the individual woman

My favorite maneuvers that I learned from the Safe-Chi Kata were:

  1. The Sweeping Palm – the simultaneous blocking and striking maneuver to the attacker’s nose.
  2. The Ball Breaker (a.k.a. Fast Pitch) to the attacker’s unsuspecting groin.
  • DiAnn portrays herself very confidently throughout the video.

Gina S.

I have been working in the field of corrections for over 10 years. In all of my training, I have found this self defense video course the most helpful. This video emphasizes a woman’s strength and her ability to use it. It has helped me not only in my line of work but also as a mother. I would recommend this video to women of all ages.

"DiAnn’s video gives practical advice that every woman can use. DiAnn shows you ways to defend yourself that anyone can do. She helps to explain the mindset of an attacker to better understand how to change your own mindset. It only takes about 10 minutes to practice the Safe-Chi Kata. By practicing this every day every woman has been given the tools to feel more confident to make their own personal environment safer."

"DiAnn’s knowledge & enthusiasm for self defense is clearly shown throughout this video. A ‘must’ watch for anyone interested in learning self defense."

Your video is absolutely awesome! Your video promotes awareness and prompts me to keep a few simple things in my mind so that I can react quickly to an attacker. I will be a more protected person because of it, and so will my friends and family.

Beth C. – working professional & mother

In my line of work, I have seen the effects upon women who have experienced a physical assault. DiAnn’s Fundamentals of Self Defense training video teaches the Safe-Chi Kata techniques to establish safety, security and confidence. Incorporating various methods, WOW fosters strength and empowerment.

Straightforward and easy to execute!
Dear DiAnn,
Your video is great and it is very useful for women like me who travel from one place to another. Your techniques are straightforward and easy to execute. The whole video is a very good source of information from prevetion to actual physical counter attack. One of the best tapes I viewed. Most tapes show fancy high kicks that perhaps a martial artist can perform, not practical for the everyday woman. Your video is for everyone, even young girls can perform the techniques. Thanks for a very good instructional tape. Hope you will produce more in future.

Ginny

Video is Fantastic!

Hello DiAnn, my name is Saron and I viewed your video and it is fantastic. It is because I need to travel to foreign countries that made me want to be able to take care of myself.

Your video is a fine example of women’s self defense techniques which are simple and very effective. Although I had not viewed any videos before, your video gives simple step by step instruction which is easy to understand. The part about how to spot and avoid dangerous situations is also very good indeed. Had not thought about it until I watch your video. Thanks for helping us women to take a stand and protect ourselves.

By the way, my favorite technique is the ‘testicle tangle’. Did not know exactly which part of the male groin to attack until I watched your video. Another favorite is the ‘ball breaker’. One question, can the technique really do that, I mean break the attacker’s balls?

Best wishes and regards,
Sharon

For females of all ages, this book contains personal safety tips from experts in street smarts including verbal and open- hand self defense and a few easy-to-use weapons for self defense.

This book charts America’s attitudes towards sex and rape from the time of the Puritans when rape was low; through the 18th century, when rape began to increase; to the present, a time that condones male sexual violence and denies that a woman can be raped by an acquaintance.

Learn the long-held secrets of dim-mak: a system of deadly strikes to vital acupuncture points at the root of t’ai chi ch’uan. Both the martial and healing applications of the most dangerous points are explained including set-up points, multiple point strikes and neurological shutdown points. For information purposes only.

Fighting back (something any female can do effectively if properly trained) is the antidote for rape, abuse and boyfriends who show violence such as shoving their dates a little too hard after drinking. Gender expectations, history, fairy tales, religion and mythology and how these structures keep women mute, docile, and respectful are discussed.

This book looks at sexual violence from various perspectives – anthropology, criminology, public health, sociology and women’s studies. It analyzes social and institutional factors that contribute to the occurrence of rape and sexual assault and provides strategies for prevention and change. Included are personal accounts from women who have been raped or threatened by rape.

A comprehensive guide that offers hope and encouragement to every woman who was sexually abused as a child. Personal experience and professional knowledge provide clear explanations, practical suggestions, a map of the healing journey, and show the reader how she can come to terms with her past so that she may move into the future.

    NWMAF:

Pilates is extremely beneficial for all age groups and fitness levels and for anyone who wants an enjoyable, varied exercise program.  It is particularly successful in helping to treat back pain, arthritis and sports injury.  Pilates builds core (body) strength that is essential for martial artists to hone their craft and to prevent injuries. Strengthening the proper muscles for correct posture helps to prevent back injuries and create longer lines in the body. This creates the space a martial artist needs in the joints and between the bones in case of a misstep, a bad turn or punch while practicing and is the difference between a short-term injury and a permanent one. Improve your balance, strength, flexibility and posture in this energizing workout.  Pilates can be transforming in so many ways, and I look forward to helping you on your Pilates journey.

    A.C.E. – Aerobic Circuit Exercise (6, 1-hr classes)

Circuit training improves all round physical fitness. It is an excellent way to simultaneously improve mobility, strength and stamina. The A.C.E. format utilizes a group of strength exercises (a circuit) that are separated by brief, timed rest intervals. Each circuit is separated by a longer rest period. Throughout the course the number of circuits will start out low and increase while the rest periods will slowly decrease in order to make progressive steps toward better cardiovascular fitness.
